This Michael's identity is not isolated nor confirmed. There is, however, enough coincidence to drive the current assumption that...
1. This Michael Bentz is the same Michael Pens/Pents/Pentz (or even Mickell Pentes) who sailed from Rotterdam aboard the Loyal Judith at Age 27 in September of 1732.
- Immigration records noted on Founding Fathers page
2. This is the same Michael Bintz who married Anna Elizabeth Huber in Earl Town, PA in 30 May 1737.
- New Holland Lutheran Church, Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, US
4. This is the same Michael of Earl Town, PA who is listed as the father of "Michael Bens" on his son's marriage record in 29 Dec 1767 in Berks County to Sybilla/Isabella Frye. This possible son (Michael) was born on 12 May 1738 and later moved to Shenandoah County, Va in the 1770s, had many children, then moved to Adams County, Ohio about 1796 -- he accidentally drowned crossing the Ohio River on 25 Dec 1799.
- Marriage: Reading (Trinity) Lutheran Church, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania
5. Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Holland, PA Parish Records note Michael Bentz's son "Michael" as born on 12 March 1738, and baptized 7 May 1738. Sponsors were Michael Raun and wife Anna Maria. This date barely conflicts with #4 above. Not material.

7. Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Holland, PA Parish Records note Michael Bentz's son "Johannes Peter" as born on 28 Nov 1741, and baptized 25 Dec 1741. Sponsors were Johannes Peter Huber & Eva Barbara Scherkin.
8. Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Holland, PA Parish Records note Michael Bentz's daughter "Maria Barbara" as born on 13 Sep 1743, and baptized 2 Oct 1743. Sponsors were Caspar Eckhardt & Anna Barbara Huberin.
I think he may be the ancestor of the current Vice President.
